The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) was set up by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India (GoI) in 1966. The GJEPC is the apex body of the gems and jewellery industry, and today it represents almost 6,000 exporters in the sector. With headquarters in Mumbai, the GJEPC has regional offices in New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Surat and Jaipur, all of which are major centres for the industry. It thus has a wide reach and closer interaction with members to serve them in a direct and meaningful manner.

Certificate of importer-exporter code (IEC)
Importer/Exporter Code is issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India. All Importers/Exporters who import/export goods or services from India require an IE Code.
NSIC empanelled the leading credit rating agencies like CARE, CRISIL, Dun & Bradstreet, FITCH, ICRA, ONICRA and SME Rating Agency of India Ltd (SMERA) to conduct the rating of interested enterprises under the scheme. While the criteria of finalization are left to the individual rating agencies, the symbols and the definitions for indicating the risk score has evolved on a uniform basis for implementation by all rating agencies. The scheme was launched on April 7 2005, by the Finance Minister and Minister of MSME.
